Barry loves science, which means all his opinions are based on facts and reality.
He doesn’t believe in anything that can’t be explained with science, whether it’s fantastical mythical creatures like unicorns or HIGHER POWERS like Emem and Tears.
A big reason he’s so invested in science is a coping mechanism, a way to ground himself in reality by reminding himself of what’s real and can be explained, because unexplainable things scare him– largely because of his schizophrenia.
He’s very, VERY vocal about his rejection of make-believe, and refuses to accept the idea that some things can’t be explained with science.

Barry struggles with a poor immune system, and that makes him prone to getting sick really easily. He also deals with paranoia over others trying to get him sick, and has an obsession with science to try and ground himself in reality.

As the lackey to the mischievious escape artist Caroline Coughs, Uni gets into a lot of trouble with the doctors. He's very messy and disorganized and pretty depressed, but he still tries hard to be kind and make his friends laugh despite the awful situation they're all in. He cares a lot about others and wants to be there for everyone as much as he can, but has trouble looking out for and taking care of himself a lot of the time. Caroline is his best friend, platonic soulmate, and biggest hero and they support each other endlessly.

The brooding and grumpy twin of Nurse Mood. Doom hates pretty much everything and everyone, and is very unhappy with himself and his life. Essentially nobody in the hospital actually likes him (except Mood and Uni) and the feeling is often mutual. He spends most of his free time away from this horrible job by himself, trying to cope with his misery from the situation he's in.

Rem is the top security guard (in fact, the only security guard) to the hospital. She confiscates patients' belongings when they arrive to make sure they don't have anything like weapons or things that could be used to help escape. She doesn't really like what the hospital does but she needs the money to support her daughter, Kid. She also loves her girlfriend, Nurse Mood, very very much- and the two of them are nearly inseparable off work. Rem uses her attractive appearance to manipulate and control Cuddles to the best of her ability.

They aren't really fond of this place, and doesn't like what they do here, but sugar helps them forget what's happening around them.

Puppy is a silly and sweet doctor who doesn't fully understand what she's doing. Lo doesn't know the stuff the hospital does is bad, and this leads to a lot of confused sadness when the patients do not like her. Puppy likes stuffed animals and cutesy things, and playing with ferries. It's a stark contrast from what lo does. She also really values Cuddles' attention and praise, completely oblivious to how bad he is, and when he scolds lov it really messes her up.

It's best to stay out of his way, because you won't like what he does when he's mad.
